Why it matters

AI answers rely on search indexes. A page that isn’t indexed almost never gets cited. And the pages that most often drop out are the newest, most commercial ones: pricing, comparisons, new services.

Step by step

  1. In Search Console, open Indexing → Pages and look at the reasons “Crawled – currently not indexed” and “Discovered – currently not indexed.”

  2. Filter for service, pricing, comparison, and case study pages. These are the pages that answer queries from people ready to buy.

  3. Run URL Inspection on the 10 most important ones and check whether the canonical URL Google picked matches yours.

  4. Add your site to Bing Webmaster Tools (you can import it from Search Console) and check the same 10 pages. Microsoft Copilot answers from Bing’s index.

  5. For pages that aren’t indexed, add internal links from the menu and homepage, remove duplicates, and request a recrawl.

Template: Tracking table for 10 pages

URL | Google: status | Google-selected canonical | Bing: status | Action
https://yoursite.com/pricing | Discovered, not indexed | — | Not found | Link from menu + request recrawl
https://yoursite.com/service | Indexed | Matches | Indexed | —
https://yoursite.com/us-vs-competitor | Crawled, not indexed | Different page | Not found | Remove duplicate, strengthen internal links

How to know it’s done

All 10 key commercial pages are indexed in both Google and Bing, and the canonical URL matches yours.

Common mistake

Checking only Google. Many teams never set up Bing Webmaster Tools, yet Copilot answers from Bing’s index.

How to check the result

1–2 weeks after your fixes, open the Pages report in Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools again. Your key URLs should move to “Indexed.”

If you use Dabudai, watch Top Pages. Pages that return to the index usually show up among AI answer sources within 2–4 weeks.

Questions

Why bother with Bing if everyone searches on Google?

Microsoft Copilot answers from Bing’s index. Setting up Bing Webmaster Tools takes 10 minutes if you import from Search Console.

How long does indexing take?

Usually anywhere from a few days to 2–3 weeks after a recrawl, as long as the page has internal links and isn’t a duplicate.

What if Google picked a different canonical page?

Remove the duplicate or clearly set the canonical URL, then link to that URL from the menu and other pages.
